Turns out I had to enable alsa for sdl and dosbox. Here are the required entries from my /etc/portage/package.use/package.use file... games-emulation/dosbox alsa media-libs/libsdl alsa ...or I could've enabled alsa globally in make.conf -- Walter Dnes <waltd...@waltdnes.org> I don't run "desktop environments"; I run useful applications
