Looking at the ebuilds, it appears that nvidia-settings is installed by the nvdidia-drivers package, controlled by the tools USE flag. Try setting that flag and unmerging nvidia-settings. -- Neil Bothwick He's so cool, he could get frostbite from masturbating.
