This has been discussed before on this list in 2017. Have you tried the
(admittedly counter-intuitive) solution of blacklisting vboxvideo to avoid
conflicts with the kernel frame buffer? [1]
$ echo 'blacklist vboxvideo' >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
