thanks rumen- tried your suggestion and found a different version named HelixPlayer-1.0.6.778-20050916.i586.rpm on the helix site. i downloaded the rpm and copied it to /usr/portage/distfiles with its correct name, then with HelixPlayer replaced with RealPlayer and even one copy with the version data fudged to match. but with all three i got the same result. next tried --usepkg, same thing, no luck yet... thanks again -- [email protected] mailing list
