I instaled on a Compaq Server, 200MHz CPU and 128MBs of memory, in a little over two hours. I compiled mine too. I didn't have anything but the basics since it only runs folding but it didn't take long. Gentoo might take a little longer but it is well worth it just because of portage and the ease of updating.
