You may want to install JFFNMS (waiting on 0.8.3 ebuild bug fix) when it becomes ready for use. It talks to a wide variety of devices and can store, analyze and plot parameters. It has a wonderful graphics display capability (rrdtool). With JFFNMS you can profile parameters (such as your batteries and determine when they need replacing) as well as many other issues with various pieces of equipment, all in one piece of software package. It works with a variety of vendors' equipment, like cisco routers not just UPSes, or in case you have UPSes from vendors other than APC. JFFNMS is one very cool piece of software. You can status, alarm, control and update all sorts of equipment with it (embedded to 64 bit servers). SNMP support is one of it's strongest features. It is also extendable to other legacy or closed forms of equipment, via a variety of techniques and reverse engineering tricks. www.jffnms.org hth, James -- [email protected] mailing list
