Also, in my computer xdm seems to start before net.eth0.
In fact, it seems that net.eth0 is not needed for my desktop
$ sudo /etc/init.d/net.eth0 needsme
gkrellmd netmount pydoc-2.5 samba sshd svnserve transmission-daemon net
