I had Konsole-related crashes and other weirdness when I first switched to KDE4. It turned out to be related to fonts! I installed DejaVu fonts and used them for everything in KDE's font config, and in Konsole I'm using "Fixed [ETL]" size 10 (I'm not sure which package that came from, but I think it's one of the core Xorg fonts). It probably has nothing to do with your problem but I figured I would mention it just in case.
