Aside from the technical discussion, I am really pleased to see this report
in the peer-reviewed literature.

The peer-review process is an imperfect filter that often acts to improve
published works.  It is no guarantee of correctness, but the peer-review
process increases the probability that a published scientific or technical
work will be fundamentally sound.

In the culture of science, having a study be peer-reviewed makes it fair
game to cite in other peer-reviewed papers in support of specific points,
although of course it is the responsibility of the citer to make sure that
the cited point is indeed correct.

It is an imperfect system, but it is the best system we have.
