The proposal is for a long, gently-sloping evacuated tube. This is magnetically-levitated at one end, and anchored at the other. It's for launching payloads to space. If it is indeed possible to use magnetic levitation to lift something so massive, then surely creating some kind of magnetic elevator to carry sulphur to the stratosphere wouldn't be too tricky? I am unable to assess the credibility of the startram idea, or understand its purported working principles. Can anyone shed light on this?
