SRM prevents solar energy to reach the Earth surface. By a parasol effect SRM sends back to the space shortwave radiation.
But the greenhouse gas effect is a matter of longwave radiation. Global warming problem is not due to sunlight radiation, but to IR. Can we increase the outgoing heat radiation? In 2011 Mitchel et al proposed a new idea to cool down the Earth and called it “Earth Radiation Management” http://cdn.intechopen.com/pdfs/21120/InTech-Cirrus_clouds_and_climate_engineering_new_findings_on_ice_nucleation_and_theoretical_basis.pdf *"...A conceptual shortcoming of SRM-based methods is that they implicitly address a problem of reduced heat output (GHGs trapping thermal radiation) by reducing radiation input (reflecting sunlight to space). A third climate engineering approach recently considered (Mitchell and Finnegan, 2009; henceforth MF2009) is to directly address the problem of increased troposphere heat content by increasing its heat output (i.e. shifting its thermal equilibrium in favor of cooler temperatures). If it were possible to modify the troposphere’s heat balance to reduce surface temperatures, this would offset the effect of heat-trapping GHGs in a more direct fashion. This third approach might be called earth radiation management (ERM). Under this definition, reducing GHG emissions and CDR are in effect ERM methods. ..."* Mitchell, D. L., Mishra, S., & Lawson, R.
