Dear All,

In this group in May 2013 Svetlana Tkachenko has interesting exchanges with
Mark Capron in a post titled “Power-generating system to transfer heat from
Earth to upper troposphere”.

Several patents describe devices that generate energy utilizing surface
level hot air (generally also quite humid) as the heat source, with high
atmosphere as the heat sink (for instance US patent 2013/0229015).

The devices provide updraft to initiate and control large-scale air
circulation.

If heat is transferred from the surface to the stratosphere and then to the
outer space, then the result is surface cooling!

Louis Michaud is the scientist most known in this area.

Some support exist for this research

For the moment this kind of device has not yet proven to be able to
produce energy. But scientist know how to generate artificial tornadoes.
Forget for a moment about generating electricity and let us imagine using
these devices only to cool the planet… Easy to construct, low technology
and high efficiency: the following presentation is very interesting

In the Earth radiation budget diagram showing incoming solar radiation and
Earth outgoing IR radiation, can this type of heat transfer be assimilated
to an increase of thermals?
