RWL: Not disappointed in the piece really. I understand where Dr.
Mazo is coming from, and he clearly has expertise in conflict. I doubt he
claims expertise on CDR.
I will just pick up on the first sentence in his last paragraph,
reading:
Geoengineering is likely to be only a small part of any solution to the problem
of climate change.
I am afraid he is correct in this assessment, but one can also rephrase this
and say that the CDR portion of geoengineering is the only hope we have.
As this relates to the “Stand There” topic, I still hope we can agree
that this is an inappropriate policy recommendation for most of the CDR had of
geoengineering - and it is more appropriate for all parts of Geo to use the
more common quote: “Don’t just stand there. Do something.” And that something
can/must be different for each Geo subpart.
