I have worked in on direct air based carbon capture for a number of years. I
would suggest that it is too early to tell if DAC (as an industrial process)
is the silver bullet or not. More work and commercialization is going to
need to be done before this is clear. Unfortunately there is no real
commercial path for this to start happening. This is a great problem and
until it is address I believe DAC will struggle. It is for this reason that
my company ceased working on DAC a couple of years ago. At the time when I
made this decision, I wrote the attached position on why we did this.
