We, too, find a major weakness in montaj is the loss of "scripting" to make
a series of maps
for a particular project. In times past we would create an extensive batch
file that called control
files containing title block info, marginal notes, contour legends, etc..
Then one could change all
the maps at once and remake and re-merge PLTs with very little manual
effort.
I appreciate that montaj will still allow specialized control files to be
used. Is there a way of
recording/manufacturing a control file (akin to a script) as one creates the
basemap, titles, etc.?
I also find printing a problem, especially if different map sheets have
different aspect ratios and sizes
to economize on media. One has to set up the printer media dimensions, and
remember the dimensions
used for each sheet! As an aside, is there a way to automate the printer set
up for each of a series of
maps and then re-use it for a change or a new parameter presentation?
