Oasis can import the channel names if they are present at the beginning of the data file. You can check on this by exporting a database in the "Geosoft XYZ" format with the channel headers included. I can think of various ways to process your readme.txt file either in a word processor or better yet using one of the text editors under UNIX or LINUX. The problem you have with many PC-based word processors is that they are not able to handle really large text files. You can probably concatenate two text files under DOS (I seem to recall doing so). That would allow you to prepare the header information and then concatenate the data to it.

Does anyone have a GX or suggestion for converting a "typical" "Geoterrex" listing of column names (in a readme.txt) into a Geosoft "i3" import template. For airborne data sets it can be a very tedious process to create an i3. My current need is to import a data set with 140 data columns containing no header of column names.
