Different kind of sorting, I'm afraid.  I was thinking more of sorting 
elements across the array (one cell or one fid's worth of data at a time) 
rather than sorting an array channel down the length of the line.

For example, if I've got
A[0]=2
A[1]=7
A[2]=-1

can I rearrange them so that
A[0]=7
A[1]=2
A[2]=-1
