Hi, the main change is to merge background layer config and viewer config into one object. I'll send an example config to the list when I get to it, so you can see how the gxp viewer config format looks.
And what I said in my previous mail is nonsense - of course there is work on the javascript side: gxp.plugins.WMSSource needs to be modified to figure out portions of the missing Capabilities itself, and provide this to applications. My ballpark estimate for this would be 8 hours, in addition to 2 hours for removal of the ConfigManager. Sorry for the confusion -Andreas.
