Hello Simone, There is lots of room for improvement in the backup / restore scenario. I have done a few myself but a non-trivial amount of effort and have sent the relevant files to other people with mixed levels of success.
The approach I am now taking is to provide the hooks to download data, metadata and styles for a given layer and create a folder that can be processed directly by the geonode_import command filling the metadata properly. I am just getting started on this and it looks to be a big amount of work, and recommendations are welcome. Ariel.
