>From a postgres perspective you can easily write to mulitple places at once or sync on demand (e.g. slony I think is what it's called). But I can't recall how geoserver would need to be handled. Another way to go might be some technology like drbd where the disks are simply synced to other disks. No idea how to security on a setup like that but should be possible with asynchronous writes. As for hosting, Amazon might be a good choice since you can leave it running on a small instance and up the ram if disaster hits and it becomes the main node. Rackspace is another reasonable option. Then on the frontend if you are running the sites simultaneous you'll want to run one of the servers as a load balancer or geoip redirector to point users to the node located closer to them or on island/off. This is all speculation, I've yet to run anything like this but should give you some ideas for what to start researching. Enjoy, Alex
