Hi, Am not sure about the AMI but the standard geonode debian package install places the local_settings file at /etc/geonode/local_settings.py. A symbolic link of the same is also at /var/lib/geonode/src/GeoNodePy/geonode/local_settings.py One can also create a super user from within geonode's virtual environment using the command django-admin.py createsuperuser.
