Hi,
I've been running the cite tests against the unofficial
test suite (the one in the OGC svn) and got the following
results.

Tests run
--------------------------------------------------------------

WFS 1.1 + PostgisNG
One failure, due to the usual http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-1854
(which I want to squash by beta2)

WFS 1.0 + PostgisNG
Full pass

WFS 1.1 + XLink + H2
The instructions for running this are outdated, the scripts
are not up to date either. I tried fixing it so that I could
run things but after an hour I still wasn't able to
start GeoServer succesfully on that data directory.

I opened a jira and attached a patch with the partial work
done, given this is a beta I believe it's not critical
to check for xlink support anyways:
http://jira.codehaus.org/secure/ManageAttachments.jspa?id=87122

WMS 1.1.1
Full pass

WCS 1.0
Full pass after fixing a bug and remembering to remove
the WCS 1.1 service from the classpath (the WCS 1.0 tests
are setup in a way that's not future proof, if you add a WCS 1.1
in the mix some of the negotiation tests will fail).

WCS 1.1
Full pass

Conclusion
---------------------------------------------------------

To be a beta it seems to be good to go. Next time hopefully
we'll be able to run tests with xlink and also have full
pass for wfs 1.1 on postgres 8.3

Cheers
Andrea
