I see. Honestly I kind of thought integrating with the WMS would be enough, as in that you won't need to get to the gwc url if you have it integrated with the WMS (since the integration point is the interception of the WebMapService.getMap method the virtual service resolution already happened).
But I see that you may want virtual services to be there for all the geoserver provided services. Yet, I doubt it's gonna be easy, though it may be worth some more thinking. Thanks for the feedback.
