I don't like this idea, unless we plan to release the final with the H2 catalog by default (that would require another gsip and so on). Wouldn't it be possible to make that a plugin so that interested people can try it out instead and leave betas for what they are meant for, that is, test what will eventually become the stable. Testing a community module, even if of great importance, should not be part of the base release. But I would be +1 on having the artifact be built, and included in the announcement so that everyone interested can check it out. You could also just make it part of the nightly build and blog about it so that everybody can download nightlies and play with it. Since you're still heavy developing it it would be the best way to keep on providing people testing it out with the latest evolutions, check out bug fixes and so on. No?
