I've had a fix for GEOS-5975 sitting on GeoScript master for a while,
yesterday I finally took the time to update the maven repo and refresh the
dependency on the GeoServer side. Ironically the problem arose from the
one .java file in all of GeoScript Scala.
It would be nice if someone could grab the latest nightlies and confirm the
fix, but I think the issue can be closed now.
