Thanks for this thorough benchmark, I think it's very useful. My 2c would
be to introduce these options, but I'd be against simplifying geometries by
default, as I know of a few use cases that require their geometries to be
"exact" (or at least, exact in the sense of representing whatever they have
captured as raw data). A rendering hint sounds great to me though, and I
see most use cases benefiting from this.
As for the OpenJDK optimized renderer....I'm intrigued. I'd love to see
better support for it, as it makes deployment on Linux so much easier, but
my impression has always been that it's a second class citizen and that
we'd be losing something by not using Oracle's JDK. These optimizations
certainly sound promising.
