There are various companies involved somehow with GeoServer and all of them (plus many others) offer trainings with certifications (e.g. we offer that as well http://www.geo-solutions.it/offer/professional-training/). PSC could pick all of them or none of them as official certifications but hardly some of them.
IMHO best thing is to pick none of them and not have to discuss/argue about rules for being an official training and above all the return (aka money) to provide for this title.
