All,
I downloaded the geoserver-2.9-beta2-win.zip from
http://ares.boundlessgeo.com/geoserver/release/2.9-beta2/geoserver-2.9-beta2-win.zip
I unzipped to a folder on my drive which contained
GeoServerEXE.nsi
gs.ico
header.bmp
side_left.bmp
splash.bmp
wrapper-server-license.txt
wrapper.conf
wrapper.dll
wrapper.exe
wrapper.jar
Not knowing how to start this, I simply ran the wrapper.exe as a double-click
from Explorer
Output (from log, window closed to fast to copy the actual console):

I did a quick search for how to start using the wrapper and found this page
https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/src/release/wrapper/wrapper_readme.txt
which indicates that the wrapper_readme.txt should be included, but the file
list is also quite different to what is actually in the zip.
Not sure how to test this one.

I am downloading and testing the DMG. Given the amount of changes in this beta2
I would appreciate confirmation the application starts up (ie is packaged
correctly) on a range of platforms (linux, windows, etc...) before we announce.
