Hi,
I'm looking at the feverish activity on 2.9.x these days and comparing it
with
the RCs of the last few years... I don't recall one requiring such large
last minute
changes, or being affected by these kind of problems, in a long while.
I'm also seeing smaller and larger improvements being merged last minute,
too.
The "norm" in the last few years has been few bug fixes instead... strict
indeed,
but besides that, there was no actual need to make much more than that.
So that makes me wonder, is it time to release 2.9.0, or to make a second
release candidate?
Of course, 2.9.0 could turn out to be quite good, but by past experience
high last minute
activity is not a good sign.
It could well be that delaying further the release is not going to make any
good,
but still, I cannot help but wonder if releasing a RC2 would be a safer
approach.
Opinions?
