Hi Simone, thanks for your reply.

I understand your points and they make sense, yet I still _feel_ like it'd
be good to have a bare minimum "official" image. By one side we could
instruct to try out geoserver by just pulling geoserver/<version> image,
and by the other it would make it easier to justify a choice of docker
image when working on a related project like it's my case now. Of course, I
could build my own, but I think there could be a lot of other people in the
same situation. My current one being I'm using the docker-maven-plugin to
run integration tests against a live instance and customer would be happier
if I used some sort of official image.

I agree none would fit all cases. I reckon I'm rather new to this arena and
amazed by the possibilities and options it brings out, and thought having a
simple barebones per release tagged image submitted to docker hub would be
a good idea.

Let's leave the idea floating around and see what happens.
