Some aspects of the MapML extension appear to be built into the geoserver.war file, specifically the gridsets and possibly format.wfs.MAPML in the demo preview. I’m looking for the artifacts now.
As far as I know, they should not normally be built into the war file, should be contained to the plugin artifact.
