So not news, just technical debt. I added these messages to “catch” code that was executing before geoserver is ready.
Actually I feel bad about it - since so many test cases have this a problem we made it a warning rather than a hard failure like I initially wanted. Perhaps I could take this on as a QA activity to clear up, and then turn it into a hard failure.
