Arne,
it is a virtual server with a storage shelf (type nfs
(rw,nolock,actimeo=120,timeo=120,retrans=3,tcp,hard,nointr,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,addr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
Layer xyz has no special configuration beside
<expireCacheList>
<expirationRule minZoom="0" expiration="604800" />
<expirationRule minZoom="11" expiration="-2" />
</expireCacheList>
Yes this directory (Layer xyz, EPSG 900913, Zoom: 18) contains that many of
files; What I donnot understand is, why the error message means that the file
is too large; is there any limit?
Or is there another file, which has a limit. Can I reconfigure that?
Hope the problem is now a bit more clear
Greetings
Wolfgang

What filesystem are you using?
How is the layer xyz configured?
By "this directory", do you mean
/data/geoserver/data/gwc/xyz/EPSG_900913_18/0139_0167 ?

Subject: [Geoserver-users] file too large
Hi all,
I use Geoserver 2.0 and like to configure Geowebcache. It seems that the
millions of seeded tiles are not used by GWC and always new tiles are
generated. In the geoserver.log I found many entries like the following:
2011-01-24 19:34:41,021 ERROR [storage.StorageBroker] - Unable to save tile:
/data/geoserver/data/gwc/xyz/EPSG_900913_18/0139_0167/00142866_00171441.png
(File too large) for
/data/geoserver/data/gwc/xyz/EPSG_900913_18/0139_0167/00142866_00171441.png
In this directory reside 419439 files.
On the disc there are more than 400 GB free and also there are still free
INodes.
So does anybody know, how to work around?
Greetings from Vienna
Wolfgang

The modern datacenter depends on network connectivity to access resources
and provide services. The best practices for maximizing a physical server's
connectivity to a physical network are well understood - see how these
rules translate into the virtual world?
