No... but since the catalog is based on XML files, every restart, redeploy or 
catalog reload implies a rather long re-load time: it may take 10 minutes for a 
thousand layers (cannot be more precise at the moment, I'm sorry).

Morevoer, if you are going to edit layers via WFS, put the caching of catalog 
to a 
fairly high limit, since WFS transactions are affected by the number of 
(vector)
