I use Geoserver 2.0.2
I tried following styles :
<ColorMap extended="true">
<ColorMapEntry color="#000000" quantity="-500" label="nodata"
opacity="0.0" />
<ColorMapEntry color="#000000" quantity="-100" label="values"
opacity="1.0" />
<ColorMapEntry color="#00FFFF" quantity="100" label="values"
opacity="1.0" />
</ColorMap>
<ColorMap extended="true">
<ColorMapEntry color="#000000" quantity="-500" label="nodata"
opacity="0.0" />
<ColorMapEntry color="#000000" quantity="-100" label="values"
opacity="1.0" />
<ColorMapEntry color="#FFFFFF" quantity="100" label="values"
opacity="1.0" />
</ColorMap>
I was expecting, for data range -100 to 100, to get pixel colors from #000000
to #00FFFF :
#000001
#000002
#000003
#000004
...
#0000FF
#0001FF
#0002FF
#0003FF
...
#00FFFF
but all I get is pixel values :
#001111
#002222
#003333
#004444
...
#00FFFF
So ther is only 256 different values in my image.
How can I should configure colors to get 65k pixel colors and be able to
compute "pixel color" => "data value" conversion on client side ?
Regards,
Aurelien

Just to provide a visual example of the difference see the attached images.
simple.jpeg uses a plain color ramp, there is no extended=true
extended.jpeg uses extended=true instead
The difference can be seen pretty much everywhere, though it's more evident
over the sea.
Hope this helps

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
