I am new to Geoserver. I have looked at some of the documentation to get started.
1. I am trying to get some shapefile data to the Geoserver. The geoserver is remote from where my data exists. Do I need to FTP the data to the geoserver or are there tools to get data from a remote location to the geoserver's data folder? 2. I do not understand the URI for workspaces. Do I need to use my Geoservers URL and then a /workspace name for the "namespace URI"? Would an example be: New Workspace Name: California Namespace URI: <URL for my webserver with geoserver>/California where the URL part might be something like http://www.mydomainname.com? If there are some clear tutorial guides, I would like to know where these are located. 3. Also, if there is documentation or instructions for importing data from a remote location to a PostGIS database, I would like to know or if I need to have my source data on the geoserver machine before I do the import of data to the PostGIS database.
