Are you cascading a WMS 1.3 server, or a WMS 1.1 one? If it's the former, try to force version 1.1 in the capabilities document Btw, you know that you don't really need to force a certain map projection in the configuratoin in order to see the map in it, right? For example this layer is in 4326: http://demo1.geo-solutions.it/playground/GeoSolutions/wms/reflect?layers=GeoSolutions:ComuniRT but it can be reprojected in whatever other meaningful projection by specifying the srs parameter, and in a full wms request, the proper bbox (I'm using the wms reflector to avoid doing the bbox computations by hand): http://demo1.geo-solutions.it/playground/GeoSolutions/wms/reflect?layers=GeoSolutions:ComuniRT&srs=epsg:32632 The reprojection is either cascaded to the remote server, if the projection is advertised as supported, or done inside GeoServer, if not supported. That said, the proper way to lie to the world and advertise a different projection than the native, assuming the native one is correct, is to use "reproject from native", and that actually does not appear to work as expected. Can you open a bug report about this on jira.codehaus.org?
