Hi,

Sure there is better solution. Do your best for describing your problem and the
situation where you met it and pass the information for a proper forum. It may
be this mailing list or in case of OpenGEO suite their own mailing list would
be a better match.
It is hard to believe that it is a very common situation that WMS-C works only
if TMS and WMTS are deactivated. Probably you have found something special and
with a little bit of work you will be able to make an excellent bug report
either for Geoserver of OpenGEO suite or QGis and then the problem will be
fixed and you can be proud about yourself and how open source works.

I just tried what happens with a new Geoserver 2.3.1 and QGis 1.9.0. The
topp:states demo layer from the EPSG:4326 tileset comes fine into QGis with all
WMS-C, TMS and WMTS services selected. Nothing odd with EPSG:900913 either,
despite that QGis knows it only as EPSG:3857.
Could you also repeat your test with the topp:states layer?

Ok, I seem to have solved the problem. It sure is not the best solution, but at
least I get access to my tilesets.

Simply deactivate the TMS and WMTS service in the "GeoWebCache" configuration
in GeoServer and it will work.

Anyway: If somebody has a better solution than just deactivating buggy
services, please let me know!

Cheers.

Subject: Problem with OpenGeo GeoServer, GWC and qGIS
Date: Tue, 31 Jan 2012 13:57:52 +0100

Hi list,

I'm experiencing a very weird problem regarding tilesets provided by GeoServer.
First of all, my configuration:

Ubuntu 11.10
Opengeo Geoserver 2.1.3 Build 06-Jan-2012 18:47
Sun Microsystems Inc.: 1.6.0_23 (OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM)
QuantumGIS 1.7.3

I have set up a WMS source in qGIS to grab prerendered tiles with the following
link http://ip:port/geoserver/gwc/service/wms?tiled=true

When I open the connection, my tilesets are displayed normally. However, Once I
have seeded them as png in EPSG:900913 I get a "Bad Request" Error and am not
able to load the tiles into qGIS. I posted this here because I don't think this
is a quantumGIS problem.

This is the error message (ip and port replaced):

Error downloading
http://ip:port/geoserver/gwc/service/wms?tiled=true&SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities
 - server replied: Bad Request

This is what verbose logging says:

2012-01-31 13:55:12,777 DEBUG [geoserver.filters] - Compressing output for
mimetype: text/html;charset=UTF-8
2012-01-31 13:55:25,975 DEBUG [geoserver.filters] - filtering
http://ip:port/geoserver/gwc/service/wms
2012-01-31 13:55:25,994 ERROR [geowebcache.GeoWebCacheDispatcher] - null
http://ip:port/geoserver/gwc/service/wms
2012-01-31 13:55:25,994 DEBUG [geowebcache.GeoWebCacheDispatcher] -

Any ideas?
