After we further investigate mbtiles as a possible solution, I'll re-engage
this list before any work. If you would care to share the approach you
were working on (via GDAL or direct support) and your experience, I would
be interested in learning from your experience.
I'm glad to hear that the donated work would find community support, which
is certainly something I looking for.
