Hua Jie, it is not really clear what do you want to do: 1. change the layer
name and or settings GeoServer interface: This is a metadata catalog update
and it is obviously possible (through GeoServer Web or Rest interface). 2. edit
published data through the GeoServer interface: This is not possible. To do
so you have to modify the shapefile (editing it) and then reload the store
(through GeoServer Web or Rest interface).

Is it able to update geoserver layer data? eg, I download a shp file or
streetmap file. I want to change some place name to the others. How do I need
