Hmm... the issue might be due to something added in the suite that's not
part of the vanilla GeoServer,
but just to double check, use jstack against your GeoServer
(
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/production/troubleshooting.html#jstack
)
and send us the output when GeoServer is consuming CPU like you said
