Hi everybody,
today I run in some problems with charset. I have some special German
characters like ä, ö and ü in my sld-files and asked myself what charset I
should use.

When I create a new style in the web-gui I get a file in charset us-ascii using
the bash-command "file -bi test.sld".

That is not what I expected because the operating system is using utf-8, the
geoserver-settings are also utf-8 (global settings).

Is this a bug? And could it lead into problems if I change the charset from
us-ascii to utf-8?

I would like to use utf-8 for alle files because this is the future in my
opinion. Is it a good decision to convert alle stylesheets to utf-8 and to
change charset-setting in the xml-definition-tag?

Greetings from Germany
Stefan
