Hi Andrea,
I am sorry but it wasn't meant to geoserver-developers it was just meant
general. I often get problems with character and file encodings and I am just
wishing that this general problem would not exist, thats all. But it exists so
we have to work with it, but is is sometimes really time consuming (for sure
for everybody, developers, users, administrators).
I am really sorry that you thought I meant you or someone else on this list!
And for users who have the same problems: As I remarked the file command tries
to recognize the character encoding depending on the characters in the file, if
there are only characters that don't allow a recognition it assumes that it is
in us-ascii.
Sorry once more for my posting, next time I try to write it more clear.
Greetings
Stefan

P.S.: The person who "developed" this problem should go to hell!
This is a surefire way to:
- make sure the problem is not going to get fixed
- make sure you're not going to get any answer from this mailing list
for as long as people remember your name
Cheers
Andrea
