Firstly as above poster mentioned, it can be because of listening problem.

Also the problem might be your virtual machine's network adapter settings. I
don't know which virtualization app you used but for all of them there are
some options. One of them creates connection through your main computer and
other one creates connection on its own. Your vm's network connection should
be seperated.
