Nothing should be changed in the GFI automatic buffer search estimation,
if it's not working we have a regression.
Can you open a bug report with some indication on how to reproduce it?

This one has not been touched either... though I don't believe anybody used
non antialiased output in years, so it might have regressed without
anybody noticing.
Please open a bug report for this one too.
