Hello,

I am currently trying to serve DTED (level 0) files through GeoServer. The
point is i do not have one or two files to provide but 25,000+.
the directory structure is the default one for DTED files, which means:
- root
  - eXXX (000 -> 179)
    - n05.dt0
    - ...
    - s90.dt0
  - wXXX (001 -> 180)
    - n05.dt0
    - ...
    - s90.dt0
Yes, it is the whole world.

Here what i have done to try to serve them with WMS:
1. Of course i installed GDAL supports for GeoServer without problems.
2. Tried ImageMosaic from root directory and obviously the plugin crashed
because of too many files to handle.
3. Tried to merge all dt0 files into one big tiff file => not easy to
manipulate with WMS (1.7 Go) and it takes long time to create it.
4. Tried to merge each subdirectory (e000.tif, e001.tif, ...) in order to
use ImageMosaic in a better way.
Gdalwarp without reprojection gives me black border. It is a little bit
expected because each tile have its own origin location and each tile have
static size (121x121 block). Then i tried to warp again but with Google
Mercator reprojection, in QGis all seems perfect but when i use openlayers
from GeoServer, i got a even bigger black border.

i already read this post :
http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/Geoserver-DTED-store-td3795061.html
But did not solve my problems ...

I hope somemone have a little bit time for me, because it's been a while
since i'm stuck here :-(
