Andrea, I will write up a blog post about this, and ask the original developer for the permission to contribute the code to Geotools. Any spaciel License it needs to adhere to?
Also, how can I get hold of the WFSLayerConfig.perReqFeatureLimit layer setting in my FeatureReader (https://github.com/peterneubauer/elasticgeo/blob/master/src/main/java/se/zvingon/data/elastic/ElasticFeatureReader.java) in order to constrain the search?
