Dear GeoServants,
I would like to provide access to cached map tiles and have been
experimenting between GeoServer's three GeoWebCache web services: WMS-C,
TMS, and WMTS. In my testing it appears that only WMS-C (tiled=true) will
allow and dynamically generate access to map tiles that have not been
previously cached already. In the latter two cases (TMS, WMTS), if I
haven't previously generated a particular map tile they are returned blank.
Is that the intended behavior and is there a way to tell TMS and WMTS to
provide and generate map tiles when requested that GWC has not already
stored? In some cases, it is unrealistic for me to pre-generate all
possible map zooms and spatial coverage for a dataset but I would like them
accessible to users ad hoc while still taking advantage of the already
cached tiles. Thanks for your thoughts on this topic.
