I was able to pull up the logs via the browser.
javax.xml.transforms.TransformerException
java.lang.RuntimeException: Can't obtain Envelope of Layer-Groups: null at
org.geoserver.wms.capabilities.Capabilities_1_3_0_Response.write line 50
