Dear Andrea, Meanwhile I figured out. The "ground unit” terminology is somehow misleading, since the 1m I specify is not ground unit 1m, but 1 unit in the coordinate system used. For example if the WMS request is in google mercator 1 unit is 1 ground meter near the equator but 1 unit is only about 0.68 ground meters in Europe.
